Providing a supportive and non-judgemental safe space for people on their journey of self-discovery

 - Anne-Marie Newman

Counselling...

Counselling can mean different things to different people; in general, it is a safe, supportive and non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings. Counselling is somewhere that can help you make sense of things that are troubling you, relieve anxieties or help you through some emotional difficulties you may be experiencing. Some examples of challenges or difficult experiences a person may encounter can include depression, anxiety, addiction, relationship difficulties or bereavement.

WHAT TO EXPECT?

Our sessions are 50 minutes in length, giving you the space to talk about topics and feelings determined by you. Below are some of the areas we specialise in. Our aim is to make sure your needs are being met and the overall length is determined by you. Tuiscint, provides a space for you to understand yourself better.

DEPRESSION

Depression is a mental health condition which can have a huge impact on a person's life as it can affect thinking, energy, feelings and behaviour. It can feel like the world is against you and its difficult to see a way out. Currently in Ireland 1 in 10 people are affected by depression. Knowing a person is there to listen and understand you can provide a step in the right direction.

EXPLORING SEXUALITY

Sexuality, one of the subjects we veer away from in our everyday life. Our sexuality and our comfort in our sexuality can be a core underpinning to our relationships. Rules have been handed down through generations that can at times be no longer valuable to us. How comfortable are we talking about our sexuality, as a culture we are not known to be great at exploring and talking about this sensitive subject? Yet talking about it and having the courage to explore it is a fundamental part of our general well-being. Do you find yourself uncertain in this new world of genders and different forms of sexuality?

ANXIETY

Anxiety/stress in everyday situations such as an approaching exam or job interview is very normal to experience, however excessive fears or worries that does not go away can interfere in your daily life and relationships. Anxiety on its own, as a human experience is a normal emotion and can be an indication of our input of information that is threat related. However, stress can influence the severity of symptoms, which can include hyperarousal, difficulties concentrating, sleep disturbances, increased muscular tension and irritability.

RELATIONSHIP/FAMILY/
WORK ISSUES

Having trouble relating to people in work, your boss or your colleagues? Is your marriage struggling or maybe your finding it hard holding onto people in your life? Relationships can be hard to determine and find your way in, counselling can be an ideal setting to explore the complexity of relationships and how we relate to others in a variety of settings.

Anne-Marie the Person....

I have worked in Financial Services for nearly half my life, however my calling has always been counselling. Like many of us, life has thrown me curve ball or three, I found that support from my friends and family and on occasion therapy helped me through these difficult situations. It gave me a safe space where I could talk and helped me to structure my thoughts into a solution that worked for me.

I have found sometimes a listening ear is enough to provide you with the support and strength to first steps into your future of self-discovery.
